Sharon Trottier is a registered psychotherapist and art therapist who worked with Northern Indigenous populations. Somewhat recently she discovered her Mohawk ancestry, and commenced on regaining knowledge and connections regarding her traditions, customs, practices and language. Her maternal grandmother (Wolf Clan) was forced to attend the notorious Carlisle Indian Residential School with a mandate to “kill the Indian in the child”. Sharon’s grandfather was murdered at age 38 for simply being Indigenous. Government policies of domination and assimilation eroded Indigenous communities and identity. Sharon is extremely proud on her Bay of her Quinte Mohawk ancestry, which she can trace back to the 1700s. This is an ongoing personal and spiritual journey, to establish a connection to her people, culture, and customs through her art. This site is a work in progress, and has no road map.
Sharon resides in Hamilton, Ontario with her husband and cat.
